Fear not: trees will don their autumn colours in November
Sir, – Mary Rigney wonders why the trees are not turning red (Letters, October 25th). Fear not. My own observation over the years is that full colour is often delayed until well into November. I am awaiting the imminent glorious changes to my one tree in a tiny suburban garden – not a native, I’m afraid, but nevertheless one that keeps on giving. It goes from producing citric yellow new leaves in spring to turning glorious red in mid November. My only worry is that the seasonal storms will bring down the leaves before they reach their full and glorious colour and deprive me of what is an annual delight. -Yours, etc,MARION WALSH,Donnybrook,Dublin 4.
